Scorpions have a long slender flat bodies, which allows them to hide in crack and crevices.  Scorpions have a segmented tail with a venomous stinger.  They don't see well and rely on touch.  Scorpions size ranges depending on the species from 1/2 inch up to 6 inches or more.  Scorpions hide during the day and are active at night.  Scorpions hide under stones and wood piles.  Their food sources are insects, earthworms, spiders, and centipedes.  Average scorpion life is approximately 3-8 years. 

Scorpion Control  Methods:

 First, remove any wood piles or stones near the strucutre. 

Second,  You can seal any holes or gaps with cocking or expandable foam.  This will help prevent scorpions and rodents as well.   This measure may prevent scorpions from gaining access into your home.

Third, Use Liquid Professional insecticides, for example, Tempo Ultra SC, Bifen I/T, or Suspend SC as a residual product to control scorpions.  Mix these products with water in a 1 gallon sprayer, and treat your foundation from the ground up three feet with a fan spray.  Make sure your sprayer tip is set on a fan or mist spray because the fan spray will give you an adequate treatment zone.  Then, spray your ground and out off your foundation three feet.  If you have pine straw or wood mulch, use a rake to remove straw or mulch to the dirt ground.  Then apply liquids.  Make sure to use the liquid insecticides around all windows and door frames.  These products can be used inside as well, but you need to make sure you stay off the treated surface until dry.  Read Label! 

Fourth, you need to use a granular insecticide.  These products are used by professionals because this type of formulation is designed to get wey.  You can use a Scotts Hand Spreader and apply Talstar PL granulars around entire structure (up to 10 foot band off the structure/water with garden hose 1/8 inch to activate chemical,

Fifth, Only use this step if scorpion control has not been accomplished. using the other techniques.  Use DeltaDust around the foundation siding location where infestations occurs.  For example if you see scorpion activity in the living room, then apply DeltaDust to the exterior foundation/siding location where the living room area is indoors.  Or you can apply dust beneath the molding interior and move the dust formulation to the interior portion of the wall.  You will need a J.T. Eatons Hand Bellow to accomplish this task.  Fill bellow 2/3 full, flip the bellow where the chemical compartment is below the dust rod.  Insert tip under the molding and squeeze once or twice.  It is recommended to wear a mask during this process.
